Netminder Tom Annetts propelled Thunder to victory at table toppers Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday night.

Thunder took an early lead on the power play in the eighth minute when Ross Bowers set up Rio Grinell-Parke for the game’s opening goal. Phantoms hit back with five minutes left in the period through Grant Billing, who tipped a Robbie Ferrara blueline blast past Annetts.

Peterborough peppered the Thunder goal over the next 50 minutes, with Annetts ending regulation and overtime with 69 saves from the 70 shots that came his way. The MKT number 95 again stood tall in the shootout to deny Phantoms import Dairius Pliskauskas in the first attempt.

Harrison Goode converted for Thunder to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage through one round, and after Czech forward Ales Padelek netted for Phantoms, Ross Bowers stepped up to make it 2-1 Thunder through two rounds.

Annetts then thwarted Owen Griffiths in Peterborough’s final attempt to spark jubilent scenes on the visiting bench as Thunder poured onto the ice in celebration of securing the two points.
