Nightmare night in Romford for Thunder

Raiders 8 – 0 MK Thunder

Thunder suffered a heavy defeat on the road in Romford against a decent Raiders side who will be pushing for a top four place this season.

However, Thunder’s performance was a catalogue of individual errors across all lines and players, mostly in a mad five minutes of the second period when they shipped four goals!

Raiders got into a lead within the opening two minutes when Sylvester netted the first of his three goals on the night. Although outplayed, Thunder held the score at 1 – 0 for the remainder of the period and were only just out-shot.

Aaron Connolly extended the home sides lead five minutes into the second period, and the wheels totally cam off Thunder’s play in the second half of the period. Goals from Sylvester (2), Novak, and Chong saw Raiders 6 – 0 up going into the final period.

Thunder changed netminders at the break with Lawday replacing Annetts between the pipes, but despite Lawdays efforts the rest of the team just couldn’t get going with any meaningful purpose. Two further goals from Huska and Sedivy saw Raiders take the points with a convincing 8 – 0 win.

Rio Grinell-Parke took the beers for Thunder while hat-trick man Sylvester to them for Raiders.

It is rare for a team to have a total off night across the team, Thunder will be looking to put things right again on home ice next Saturday

Thunder return to home ice on Saturday, Oct. 06 for the second game of 2018-19 against Streatham. The NIHL 1 and NIHL Cup game against Peterborough Phantoms gets underway at 7:30 p.m. with tickets set at £10 Adults, £1 Under 16s, £5 16-18, Students, and concessions.
