Thunder lost by a single, highly contentious, goal tonight going down 2 – 3 to Bracknell Bees. Thunder took the lead in the first when Greg Randall got the puck through traffic to beat Dean Skinns in the Bees goal. Bees levelled and then took the lead in the second before a last gasp goal from Tomas Rubes seconds before the period buzzer got Thunder back on terms.
Then early in the final period and on a Bees powerplay, Ross Green went down injured, play was allowed to continue until Bees scored much to the disgust of the home fans. Thunder fought back, trying everything to find the equaliser but couldn’t quite get there.
This was a much improved performance from Thunder, their new Canadian Defenceman, Trevor LeBlanc, looked good in his first game and there is obviously more to come when he settles and gets used to the level of officiating in this league. Man of the Match once again was Jordan Lawday who stood out between the pipes turning away 47 of the 50 shots he faced.
