MKT 7 v 0 Dynamos – 17/11/2018

Last Saturday saw Thunder take both points at home with a confidence boosting 7 – 0 win over the visiting Invicta Dynamos. After a couple of early penalties, Thunder settled into the game with all three forward lines producing some aggressive hockey, often pinning Dynamos in their own zone (roles reversed on years gone by!) It was Tomas Rubes that opened the scoring mid period, firing home from a narrow angle to give Thunder the lead. Dynamos held on well for the rest of the period with Lawday being made to make some smart saves.

It took until mid second period for Thunder to reallly start asserting themselves, Ross Green scored the first of his goals at 26:59 finishing a move involving Sean Norris and Ollie Stone. Shortly after a Ryan Morgan holding penalty gave Thunder the powerplay which resulted in their third goal scored by Ross Bowers. An excellent finish from young Sam Talbot rounded off a good period for Thunder and they went into the break 4 – 0 up having outshot Dynamos 22-6.

Sam Talbot added his second of the night eraly in the final period quickly followed by another powerplay goal, this time from Ross Green with his second.
At 6 – 0 things started to get feisty, Trevor LeBlanc took exception to being knee’d by Ryan Morgan and sought retribution. Both players sat for 4 minutes. A long simmering standoff between Thunder’s Hallden Barnes-Garner and Dynamos’ Brandon Miles eventually resulted in the players going tow to toe with ten minutes to go. Things calmed down slightly after that and some hockey broke out! Logan Prince notched his first goal for Thunder just before the end to seal the 7 – 0 victory.
