Thunder continued where they left off in Romford the previous weekend with another lacklustre performance against a strong Streatham side, going down 1 – 7 on home ice. A result made more puzzling given the fantastic game Thunder and Streatham played out in South London earlier in September which saw the Redhawks take a win in overtime after the scores were level after 60 minutes.
On Saturday though, there was only one team up for the game as Streatham constantly stopped Thunder’s offence on the blue line and turned defence into attack with some smooth incisive passing.
After two periods Thunder were trailing 0 – 5, had changed netminders, had fought to try and lift the team, but not much seemed to work as the players got more and more frustrated. Grant McPherson managed to get Thunder on the board in the final period but the team shipped two more goals and were releived when the final whistle went.
