MK Thunder edged by Peterborough Phantoms in Home Opener

Jordan Lawday put in a Man of the Match performance as MK Thunder narrowly fell to Peterborough Phantoms at MK Arena in the first thunder home league game of 2018-19.

A game played at frantic pace started well for the visitors when Will Weldon scored on the powerplay less than three minutes in after setup play from Tom Norton and Ales Padelek.

Lawday and the thunder defence kept the phantoms offence at bay through the final 17 minutes of the period with Rio Grinell-Parke going close to an equalizer at the other end.

Phantoms found another early goal in the second frame to double their advantage before thunder found the back of the net in the 28th minute, only for the goal to be washed out.

Jaime Line raced from coast-to-coast to beat Jordan Marr in the 35th minute to leave no doubt that thunder had definitely made it 2-1 this time.

Peterborough were quick to restore their two-goal advantage through Taylor Romeo with 92 seconds remaining in the period.

Thunder pressed forward in search of a third-period comeback but were unable to beat marr for a second time, while lawday continued to impress on his thunder debut in the home goal.
