On Saturday Lewis Clifford took his roster to Hampshire to face Basingstoke Bison for the first time in team history.
Tomas Karpov gave Basingstoke an early lead before Tom Carlon equalized after being set up by Alex Whyte and Grant McPherson.
Five straight goals then turned the game on its head in favour of the undefeated hosts. Ivan Antonov on the power play and Roman Malinik saw Bison take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Following the break, goals from Aaron Connolly, Oscar Evans and Grant Rounding extended the advantage.
Gareth O’Flaherty got Thunder back in the scoring column two and a half minutes before the second period ended to make it 6-2 through 40 minutes.
Daniel Davies struck midway through the third to finalize the 7-2 victory for Basingstoke, who moved to a perfect 8-8-0 on the season.
