MK Thunder vs Slough Jets


Michael Stratford struck twice in the last 10 minutes Saturday to life MK Thunder to a 2-1 preseason win over Slough Jets at MK Arena.

Slough took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Adam Rosbottom beat Tom Annets on the breakaway 11 minutes into the game.

Jets netminder Matt Smital pulled off a string of jaw-dropping saves to keep the scoreline 1-0 in favour of the visitors until there were just seven minutes remaining.

Gareth O’Flaherty picked out Stratford for the equalizer before the recent Elite League callup scored the game winner will less than five minutes to play.

The two teams face-off again Sunday at Slough Ice Arena in a 5:45 p.m. game to conclude the 2018 preseason.

Thunder return to home ice on Sunday, Sep. 23 for the first league game of 2018-19. The NIHL 1 and NIHL Cup game against Peterborough Phantoms get underway at 6:45 p.m. with tickets set at £10 Adults, £1 Under 16s, £5 16-18, Students, and concessions.
