Ross Bowers struck with less than three minutes remaining on Sunday night to secure MK Thunder a 3-2 win at reigning playoff champions Invicta Dynamos.
Captain Jamie Line set up Bowers who beat ex-Thunder goalie Damien King with 57:12 on the clock for Thunder’s first ever away win over the Dynamos.
Invicta took an early lead on home ice through Callum Fowler before Hallden Barnes-Garner had Thunder back on level terms less than four minutes later.
Bowers’ solo effort gave MKT a 2-1 lead five minutes into the second period only for Dynamos to tie things up with a power play goal at the game’s halfway point. Import Ondrej Zosiak and ex-MK Lightning forward Bobby Chamberlain combined to supply Fowler for his second of the night.
The score remained at 2-2 until Bowers found the net again deep in the third period much to the dismay of the majority inside Gillingham Ice Bowl.
