Basingstoke Bison recorded their ninth win in nine league games this season with a 6-0 victory over Thunder at Planet Ice on Sunday night.

A scoreless first period saw both teams have opportunities to take the lead, with Tom Annetts in the home goal following on where he left off in the previous night’s win at Peterborough to keep the game scoreless after period one.

Tomas Karpov put Basingstoke ahead in the 29th minute, and after Thunder were unable to convert on some some scoring chances, the advantage was doubled late in the period when import Roman Malinik struck shorthanded.

Thunder stayed in the game and were pressing to get on the scoreboard when a penalty call on Lewis Christie switched up the momentum. Karpov hit his second of the night on the ensuing power play to make it 3-0 with nine minutes remaining in regulation.

Daniel Scott made it 4-0 with just over five minutes to play, then late goals from Malinik and Ivan Antonov rounded out the scoring as Thunder’s frustration with the officiating showed with three misconduct penalties in the final frame.
